Derry City sign striker Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe on loan from Colchester United

Derry City have announced the signing of striker Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe from Colchester United on an initial six-month loan.

The Englishman spent time training with the Candystripes in pre-season and scored twice in Declan Devine’s side’s 7-0 pre-season win over Ballinamallard United.

24-year-old Ogedi-Uzokwe recently returned from a six-month loan spell with National League side Bromley, with whom he netted six goals in 25 games.

The well-travelled Londoner, who spent time with Leyton Orient and Millwall as a youth, spent time in Cyprus with Turk Ocagi Limasol before joining Colchester at the beginning of last year.

He scored one goal in nine appearances for the Us at the end of the 2017-18 season but was deemed surplus to requirements, with his 18-month deal due to expire in July.
