Longford Town unveil capture of Conor Kenna

First Division Longford Town have announced the signing of former Bray Wanderers defender Conor Kenna.

The experienced Kenna joins Neale Fenn's ranks having impressed during a recent trial period with De Town.

Kenna's arrival will be a major boost to the Midlanders promotion aspirations for 2019 following the departure of defensive rock Daniel O'Reilly to recently promoted Finn Harps.

The former Shamrock Rovers and Drogheda United centre back joins new signing Joe Manley in the central defensive positions as Fenn looks to plug the hole left by the influential O'Reilly during the off-season.

Once of UCD, Drogheda United, St Patrick's Athletic, Shamrock Rovers and Bray Wanderers, the former Cherry Orchard schoolboy will bring some much-needed experience to De Town's youthful squad for 2019.

The 34 year old defender has one Premier Division league title to his name when he captained the Saints to the 2013 league title.

Kenna only missed four games as the Dubliner established himself as one of the most influential defensive options in the League of Ireland over an impressive few years at the top level.

Formerly of the famed Coventry City youth academy, the six foot tall centre back must now get ready for the first time as a First Division player since 2003.

During his solitary year in the second tier to date, Kenna won promotion with ease under Pete Mahon at UCD.
