SSE Airtricity League of Ireland Live: Gameweek 1

IT’s BACK! After a long winter, domestic football is finally coming out of hibernation and will get underway at 7.30pm with the sold out Dublin derby.

For us here in extratime HQ it feels like there was no off-season as we’ve been busy updating player profiles, creating fixtures, setting up podcast guests and recruiting new volunteers to ensure that we can continue to bring you top League of Ireland coverage for another season, with this being our 11th in operation.

Tonight see’s Keith Long’s side take on Stephen Bradley’s Hoops outfit in Dalymount Park in the first live televised clash of the season as the RTE cameras prepare to get the new season underway.

Elsewhere Waterford have recruited over the winter in the hope of fielding a squad that can avoid the drop and also potentially challenge for a higher position in the League table, they welcome Derry City to the RSC for their opening clash of the campaign.

St Patrick’s Athletic take on Cork City in the second of the two Premier Division clashes set for the capital on opening weekend. The 2017 champions will be hoping to build on last weekend’s President’s Cup victory by securing their first three points of the season.

Finally, Dundalk will welcome Bray to Oriel Park with the Lilywhites clear favourites to emerge victorious over a Bray side which may take some time to gel on the pitch.
