Limerick confirm Dave Rooney and Irene Hehir as first WNL management team

Limerick have confirmed the appointment of Dave Rooney as manager and Irene Hehir as assistant manager of their new Women's National League side.

 

The club announced last week that they are to become the eighth and newest addition to the Continental Tyres Women’s National League.

 

With the announcement, it brought focus on the county from all corners of the country regarding who is this new competitor in the top league in women’s football.

 

In the past few days, Limerick have made announcements on their Facebook page regarding the team’s management.

 

Rooney has been appointed as the manager with Irene Hehir as his assistant for the league debutants.

 



Rooney has worked with the FAI and with local leagues in the Tipperary area for over a decade.

 

Hehir has played in the Limerick Ladies League winning many an accolade with Lifford Ladies and is currently the league secretary. She has managerial experience with Lifford and the Clare district in the Gaynor cup.

 

Limerick kick off their inaugural season on Sunday, March 11th at home to Kilkenny United (download a handy fixture list for each side here).
