Derry City sign former Fulham defender Dapo Kayode

Derry City have announced the signing of Nigerian defender Dapo Kayode on a one-year deal.

The Foylesiders announced the new signing during half time of the north-west derby between themselves and Finn Harps, a 3-0 win for the home side, at Maginn Park on Friday night.

The right-back is a product of the Fulham Academy and has had spells at Leyton Orient and Crawley Town at youth level.

The 25-year-old was also on the books of Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock and Romanian outfit Dinamo Bucharest.

Manager Kenny Shiels expressed his desire for more experience for the 2018 campaign and has since signed defender Darren Cole to a one-year extension for next season.

“I am very pleased to get him signed,” Shiels told the club's official website.

“Next season we are going to make a surge to blend experience with our youth and he is the right age at 25 to do that.”
