Darren Cole confirms another year with Derry City

Derry City have confirmed defender Darren Cole has signed a new one-year deal with the club.

The signing comes days after manager Kenny Shiels told the media he needed more experience in the squad ahead of next season.

25-year-old Cole signed for the Candystripes in June with the intention of getting a move back to Scotland or England.

However, it now appears that the former Rangers, Greenock Morton, and Livingston defender is more than happy to commit his future to the Foylesiders for another season at least.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Cole said: ”I can’t wait to get underway, I have really enjoyed my time here with all the boys, we are still fighting for that European spot for next season and I am excited to see what the Brandywell is all about.”

Derry City's next fixture is at home against rivals Finn Harps on October 13.
