Ramblers announce Coleman as new Under 19s boss

Cobh Ramblers have today unveiled Declan Coleman as the manager of their Under-19s side, he takes over from Ethan McCarthy who recently left to take up a role at the TFF Academy in New Jersey.

This is his second stint in the team’s youth setup, having been assistant to Stephen Bermingham’s Under-19s in the 2014/15 season where they’d finish in 4th at the end of the season.

Coleman followed Bermingham to Cork City where the pair took charge of The Rebels Under-19s team and subsequently won the Enda McGuill Cup and Elite Southern Division as well as go on a memorable UEFA Youth League run where the Leesiders lost out to Italian Giants Roma.

Before leaving Turners Cross, Coleman oversaw the transition of players such as Chiedozie Ogbene, Connor Ellis and Craig Donnelan into the first team among others.

Coleman had this to say after his appointment:

“I’m delighted to be back at the club where I started my League of Ireland coaching career. I hope to help as many of the players as possible to push on to the next level.”

“It’s a competitive league and it will really bring the best out of the players and coaches. I see it as a progression from my previous role and I’m really looking forward to getting started. The club is moving in the right direction and I want to be a big part of that.”

He joins The Rams with three years of solid experience at this level and will be looking to use his expertise to help his new side to a solid campaign which opens at home against Shamrock Rovers this coming Sunday.
