Captain Aaron Brilly among five re-signed at Cabinteely

Pat Devlin has continued to be proactive in his role as Cabinteely’s first team manager and director of football by re-signing five players that featured for the South Dublin outfit in 2016.

Aaron Brilly, who is the club’s record appearance maker, has re-signed for 2017 after captaining the team in 2017.

"I'm thrilled to have signed back for Cabo. This club means a lot to me. It really is a great club going places,” Brilly said after committing his future to Cabinteely.

Joe Doyle, who made the headlines after scoring a hatrick in just eight minutes for Cabo in a 5-1 victory over Athlone Town this past summer, has also re-signed and is set for his second season with Cabo after arriving from Dundalk in early 2016.

Doyle revealed his delight after signing on the dotted line: "It is brilliant to be back again for the new season. I is great to be involved in such an exciting time for the club.

“There is already a real buzz about the place. It is set to be a great season for everyone involved," he said.

Another forward staying at Stradbrook for 2017 is 20-year-old Ollie Hamzaat. Like Doyle, Hamzaat is set for his second season in South Dublin and is looking forward to the season ahead.

“I am absolutely delighted to have signed back for Cabo. It's a big season ahead for the club and personally.

“I'm looking forward to helping the team achieve our targets and personally will be looking to add more goals to my game, something that was missing last year.

“I can't wait to start working with the new gaffer, this is a brilliant club for me to continue my development."

Goalkeeper Michael Kelly, who was voted Player of the Year for 2016 has also put pen to paper on a new deal at Stradbrook and he believes Cabinteely can push on from last season.

"I'm delighted to be back at Cabo again this season. I'm really looking forward to the season ahead with all the positive changes that have taken place.

“I think this year will be really successful for the club. I feel we can progress as a group of players and as a club and build on last year’s improvement."

Finally, last season’s Young Player of the Year Paul Fox has re-signed with the club.

"It's great to be back with Cabinteely for the upcoming season,” said Fox.

“The whole squad is excited about the year ahead, hopefully big things happen. I'm really looking forward to it now!"

Pat Devlin has signed ten players in the last two days with another seven to be announced on Wednesday afternoon.
