Bray announce home games will be on Friday in 2017

Friday night football will make a return to the Carlisle Grounds in 2017, with Bray Wanderers announcing their home fixture details for the upcoming campaign.

Up until 2015, the Seagulls traditionally played their home games on Friday evenings, with the club opting to move their games to Saturday evenings in 2015, before switching them to Saturday nights for the 2016 season.

“Bray Wanderers FC will play our home games during the 2017 season on Friday nights, kick off 19:45,” read a statement on the club’s official website, braywanderersfc.ie.

“2017 season ticket details will also be released shortly and supporters should check our website and social media channels for the latest news.”

The club had hoped to attract new supporters to the Carlisle Grounds by playing their games on Saturdays, however, despite an impressive showing last season, the average attendance at the County Wicklow venue was just 957.

During the 2016 campaign, the biggest crowd to attend a fixture in Bray was the season opener with Dundalk, which attracted 1,704 spectators. At the other end of the scale, however, was the March meeting with Sligo Rovers, which was played out in front of just 623 onlookers.
