Shiels Signs City Contract Extension

Derry City have announced that Manager Kenny Shiels has signed a contract extension to remain at the Brandywell until the end of the 2018 season.

In his first season at the City helm, Shiels has delivered European football to the people of Derry while also seeing young players such as Conor McDermott, Ronan Curtis and Ben Doherty blossom into first team regulars.

Shortly after the announcement, Shiels revealed his delight at signing his new deal to derrycityfc.net.

“I can see the seeds which are being planted and where want to take the club and it’s great to be part of something which is growing,” said Shiels.

“I feel positive with the people I work with and there’s very, very good chemistry with the people around the club and that was the biggest influence in mind way of thinking and I think it’s fantastic.

“I’m in a good place with the people here and I have formed good relationships so these are the important things for me, building happy and consistent relationships with people and these were the influential mechanisms that helped me make my decision.”

Shiels’ Derry City host Sligo Rovers tonight (Friday) at 7:45pm.
