Taylor looking to surpass Sligo Rovers

Limerick set themselves out to play football - that has been made pretty obvious to the majority who have seen them thus far this season. On Monday night, a side who also play football, Sligo Rovers steamrolled a Limerick team in a game that saw the current Premier Division champions win by four goals to nil. Similarities can be made between the way both sides set up, so where does Stuart Taylor hope to go with his club?

When asked if he'd [Taylor] like to emulate Sligo Rovers, he shook his head.

"Do I want to emulate them? No. I want to be better than them. I think we've got certain players at this club that are better than what they've got. I wouldn't swap them for any one of their players; although I was asked."

Sligo's style of play is admirable and Taylor certainly accepts that the work Ian Baraclough has done has been successful.

"We certainly want to go in the direction that they're going in terms of passing the ball and in terms of being full time and how they go about their work. We want to surpass them, though."

Dreaming of future glories, Taylor wasn't his usual reserved self when it came to setting goals.

"When we win the league, we want to go and do it again. We also want to go and pick up a cup along the way. We have to be patient with it, though. It's not going to happen overnight, but we need to bring it in as soon as possible."

The Limerick boss continued, "Success will  come to the club - in time. Hopefully, this season we can get as far as we can in the cup and finish as high up the league table as we can. Next season, we'll have a really good go at it - hopefully we can strengthen in this window and at the end of the season. That'll give real competition to Sligo and the St. Pat's whose players have known each other for a long time now."
