Robbie Keane will not feature in the upcoming friendlies against both England and Georgia in the coming weeks due to club commitments with LA Galaxy, according to the FAI.
"Both matches fall outside the FIFA international window and although the player very much wanted to travel for the fixtures, he will be unable to do so because of club matches in the US.", clarified the FAI in a statement issued this evening.
Instead of playing in these matches, Keane will play with LA Galaxy in two MLS games against the Seattle Sounders and the New England Revolution before joining up with the rest of the Irish squad in Dublin ahead of the World Cup qualifier against the Faroe Islands. He will also participate in the game against Spain in New York.
Keane has 54 goals from 123 caps with Ireland, and is all set to become Ireland's most capped player in the coming months as he hopes to eclipse Shay Given's total of 125 caps for his country.
