The Swiss national football team are governed by the Swiss Football Association and first competed at the World Cup Finals in 1934 in Italy. They have qualified for ten World Cup Final tournaments and hosted the 1954 Finals which were won by West Germany. The Swiss have reached three European Championships but have finished up in the group stages in all three editions in 1996, 2004 and 2008.
