Ground: St Mary's Park
St. Marys AFC,
St.Mary's was founded in 1948 at what was to become the cradle of their birth; 79 Gurranabraher Avenue, the home of Mr. Richard O'Connell in June of that year. A committee was elected to manage the affairs of the soccer club and seek entry to the Munster Minor League which followed their application.
That first committee, chaired by Richard (Dickio to his many friends) O'Connell, consisted of the late Finbarr Edwards as Secretary, Donie Hamilton as Treasurer, and committee members Timmy O'Donovan, Tim "Pinkio" Murphy, Donie O'Halloran (R.I.P.) and Jimmy "Dog" O'Connell (R.I.P.). Having gathered a team of promising minors St. Mary's were ready to compete for soccer honours.
Following 35 years of football history St.Mary's finally came to settle on a home ground of their own at Kilcully in 1983. The eight acre site was developed to accommodate two playing pitches and a training area complete with dressing rooms, showering facilities and a meeting room. Recent additions came in the form of a synthetic, floodlit playing facility, an upgrade to the clubhouse and plans for additional facilities are now being formulated.
