In December 2006, Paul signed for Kildare County stating that was "delighted to put pen to paper for Kildare as he knows a number of County players and their reports on the club were very positive."
Paul Donnelly signed for Kilkenny City at the start of the 2006 season.
Released by Pats at the end of the 2005 season.
Paul was born in Dublin and signed for Pats in 1999 from Leeds United.
Whilst with Leeds, Donnelly represented the Republic of Ireland Youths team that won the European Championship in '98. Beating Germany on penalties, Paul took and scored one of the vital penos.
Injury has hampered his career at Pats although he has now made the central midfield spot his own.
Paul can also play in both full back positions.
