Paul Shiels - Unassigned
About Paul Shiels
Paul Shiels is an experienced central midfielder who has won promotion with four different clubs; Monaghan United, Dublin City and Shamrock Rovers and Dundalk.
Paul joined his hometown club Monaghan United in 1992 and developed through the under age section and into the senior side. In six years in the first team he moved to Dermot Keely’s Dublin City at the beginning of the 2005 season, and won promotion with the club at the first time of asking as the Vikings finished second in the league before defeating Shamrock Rovers in the playoff.
Dublin City folded midway through 2006 and Shiels moved to Shamrock Rovers in July '06. The Hoops won the First Division crown just four months later. He remained with Pat Scully at Tolka Park for the following 2007 season, making only ten league outings, and just days after the season ended Shiels was released by the club.
In December 2007 Paul signed for John Gill at Dundalk and he made his competitive debut for the club away to Shelbourne on 7 March 2008. Paul made 28 league appearances in the 2008 season as Dundalk lifted the First Division title.
However, in February 2009 Paul moved on and signed for Drogheda United where he made a total of 33 appearances, scoring two goals, in the Louth club's Premier Division campaign.
In December 2009 Paul signed for Dermot Keely at Shelbourne and made 26 league appearances for the Reds. Paul was not retained at Tolka Park and left at the end of the 2010 season.
