About John Paul Kelly
Known as 'Joxer', John Paul captained his country at U19 and U21 levels, having also won international honours at various other under age levels.
He joined Liverpool's academy, run by former international Steve Highway, from Lourdes Celtic in 2003, making good progress and becoming a regular in the Liverpool reserves. But in 2005 he returned to Dublin and signed for Bohemians.
April 1st 2005 saw him make his league debut as a substitute against Derry City and a cup win over Athlone Town in June of the same year saw him get on the club score sheet when he scored twice. He went on to win the League and Cup double with Bohs in 2008 but was released at the end of that season and signed for Drogheda United in 2009.
John Paul left Drogheda just 12 games in to the 2009 season.
