Released by Bray Wanderers at the end of the 2005 season.
Regarded as a potential high-flier, McGuinness had signed for Pats from Cherry Orchard in 1998. Prior to that he had been with St Josephs Boys. League and League Cup winner with the Saints. He has played Under-18 and Under-21 for Ireland. It has been rumoured he was unhappy in Inchicore since the departure of former boss Pat Dolan for Cork. Signed for Bray in July 2003, and made his senior debut on 1 Aug 2003 in Ballybofey.
