A hard-working centre midfielder, Traynor was plucked from the junior ranks at Mervue United in 2008 by manager Johnny Glynn.
He was a regular starter in the Mervue United side that gained promotion to the League of Ireland and continued to play for the club in their debut league season of 2009.
