Alan Keane - Sligo Rovers
About Alan Keane
After spells with local clubs Mervue United and St. Bernard's, Alan began his League of Ireland career at Galway United in 2005. While essentially a full back, Alan also featured at centre back for the 'Tribesmen', making his debut in that position towards the end of the 2005 season. In four years at Terryland Park he made 54 league appearances and scored two league goals.
In February 2009 Alan signed for Paul Cook at Sligo Rovers. He quickly stepped into the shoes vacated by Seamus Coleman at right back and instantly won over the fans of the Bit O' Red. Keane became the club's penalty taker and proceeded to participate in 3 successive cup finals, losing one - against Sporting Fingal in 2009 - and winning two, scoring and missing penalties in the shootouts of 2010 and 2011 respectively.
In 2012 Alan made a further 17 league appearances for the Bit O' Red as the clinched their first league title since 1977.
