Danny Ventre - Sligo Rovers
About Danny Ventre
Danny is a defensive midfielder who plays for Sligo Rovers.
Danny began his career at Chester City but moved to Accrington Stanley in 2005. Two years followed at Stanley, including a loan spell at Southport. He was then signed by Sligo Rovers boss Paul Cook in the July 2007 transfer window.
Danny made his debut for Sligo in a 2-0 home win against Shamrock Rovers on 27 July and he quickly made an impact in the League of Ireland, gaining a reputation for being unforgiving in the tackle.
Danny received the Forza Rovers Player of the Year Award for his efforts during the 2009 season and also had the honour of skippering Sligo in the 2009 FAI Cup final which Rovers lost 2-1 to Sporting Fingal. Danny also played in the Cup finals of 2010 and 2011, picking up winners medals on both occasions and in 2012 he was part of the Sligo squad that won the club's first League title since 1977.
