Declan Devine - Derry City
About Declan Devine
Declan Devine began his coaching career with then Institute manager, Paul Hegarty. Devine originally moved to the Brandywell to take up the position of Youth Development Officer and after huge success in this post was head hunted by then 1st team manager Gavin Dykes to become his assistant manager.
When Stephen Kenny later took over as manager he gave Devine the position of 1st team coach and they have worked together ever since. He was part of the backroom team responsible for delivering two League Cups and an FAI Cup. Following this success, Devine was signed by Dunfermline Athletic on 5 December 2006 to become 1st team coach, following recommendations from manager Stephen Kenny who had previously worked with Devine at Derry City. Devine described the move as a "massive wrench" but felt for personal reasons that he needed to move on. However after Stephen Kenny's appointment as manager of Derry City in late 2007, Devine, too signed with the club.
Following the departure of Stephen Kenny to Shamrock Rovers in December 2011, Declan was appointed manager of Derry City FC on 6th January 2012.
