Chris started his League of Ireland career as a striker with Shelbourne in 2005. By 2007 he had dropped back to midfield and, after just one league appearance for 'The Reds', he signed for Shamrock Rovers in the summer of 2007.
He made just six more league appearances for Rovers before signing for UCD at the start of 2009 where he became a key memeber of the side that won the '09 First Division title. At the end of the 2010 season, having made a total of 60 league appearances for the Students, Chris moved on, signing for Alan Mathews at First Division Shelbourne.
Chris made his second Shels debut on the opening night of 2011 as a late substitute in the 2-1 away win over Longford Town. He scored twice that year but started only 4 league games, adding 16 substitute appearances.
In January 2012 Chris returned to Belfield for a second spell at UCD.
