David signed for UCD in the summer of 2008 and was a part of the club's A Championship winning side that year. He also made his senior debut that season as a late substitute in a 2-0 away defeat to Cork City in September '08.
With UCD newly relegated to the First Division, David started 2009 as a first team player and played a key role in the club lifting the First Division title. He scored 12 league goals that year and carried his form into the Premier Division in 2010 when he added 8 league goals to his career tally in 23 appearances.
In January of 2011 David signed for Pete Mahon at St Patrick's Athletic. He made 13 league starts but became something of a super-sub, adding 14 more appearances from the bench. David left St Pats at the end of 2011, spending some time in Australia where he scored three goals in 6 appearances for Olympic FC. He returned to Ireland in the summer of 2012 and re-signed for his former club UCD in the July transfer window.
