About Shane O'Connor
Born in Cork, Shane played schoolboys football with local side Rockmount before joining the Liverpool youth academy as a sixteen year old in 2006. He spent three years at Anfield and in July 2009 he was snapped up by then Ipswich Town manager, and former Rockmount boy, Roy Keane.
Shane made his league debut for Ipswich on 20 February 2010 in a 1-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough and went on to make 17 league appearances in two and a half years at Portman Road. In November 2011 he went on a two month loan at Port Vale but didn't make a senior appearance, and on 20 January 2012 his contract at Ipswich was terminated by mutual consent.
On 2nd February 2011 Shane signed for his hometown club Cork City.
