Shaun McGowan - Finn Harps
About Shaun McGowan
Shaun is a Ballybofey man and signed for Finn Harps from Ballybofey United in 2001. One of the star performers for the clubs under-21 side during his first three seasons at the club, he made his first team debut away to Cobh Ramblers at the end of the 2003 season under then manager Noel King.
Shaun, who followed in his father’s footsteps by playing for Harps, played much of his early career at right-back, but was an almost ever present in the centre of midfield for Harps in the 2008 and 2009 seasons. He scored his first competitive goal for the club in the 1-0 victory over Wexford Youths in August 2007 just a couple of days after finding the net for the first time in Harps colours in a 3-2 victory over Glasgow Celtic in a friendly fixture.
Shaun's contract at the club was cancelled in April 2010, after which he played for Donegal side, Kildrum Tigers.
