About Aidan Lynch

Aidan began his career at UCD in 1995 and spent seven years at Belfield. In 1997 he played at centre half in Brian Kerr's Republic of Ireland side that finished third in the FIFA World Youth Championship in July 1997.

In 2002 he signed for Drogheda United where he made 79 league appearances over three seasons. But when Drogheda turned full-time in 2005 Aidan left, choosing to maintain his career as a teacher, and re-signed for UCD.

He made only 9 appearances for the 'Students' before going on loan to Dublin City. At the end of 2005 Dublin City manager, Dermot Keely, informed Lynch that he would not be required for the following season but put him in touch with John Gill at Oriel Park. An pre-season injury saw Lynch's Dundalk debut delayed until the Cup win over Cobh Ramblers in May 2006.

He played for three seasons at Oriel Park before moving on to Monaghan United at the start of the 2009 season. At the end of the 2010 season Aidan stopped playing and in 2011 he took up a coaching role at the club.
