Sporting Fingal Football Club was established in late 2007 as part of
the Fingal Football Development Plan and licenced to compete in the
eircom League of Ireland First Division in 2008.
The setting up of this new independently funded club and the proposed
development by Fingal County Council of a football academy complex are
part of the Council's Football Development Plan which has been almost
two years in the making
A third element of the Council's Football Development Plan would see a
long term proposal being put forward to facilitate the construction of
a community sports stadium.
Although not investing financially in Sporting Fingal FC, Fingal
County Council is firmly committed to ensuring that this new club will
build and develop a strong community spirit through sport in Ireland's
fastest growing county.
Sporting Fingal FC is privately funded by a team of owners and
investors who came together in response to an invitation for
expressions of interest advertised by Fingal County Council in
mid-2007.
