Liam’s Biography
Liam hails from Conna in Cork and plays on the left-wing. He began his career with Valley Rovers as a schoolboy and also played with Fermoy before being snapped up by Nottingham Forest in 1999. He spent two years in the Forest youth set-up and two more as a professional before leaving, without having made a senior appearance, in 2003.
In 2003 Liam returned from England and signed for Cork City. He was at Turner's Cross for three seasons and won a League title with City in 2005. The following season, in January 2006, Liam left Leeside to sign for Shelbourne where he made 10 league appearances and won his second league title.
2007 saw Liam return to Cork City where he spent another two seasons, winning an FAI Cup winner's medal in 2007 and a Setanta Cup winner's medal in 2008. On 1 January 2009 Derry City took advantage of Cork's failure to offer Liam a new contract and he made 18 league appearances for the Candystripes before suffering a broken leg. He spent just one year on Foyleside and in January 2010 he signed for Waterford United.
Liam spent the 2010 First Division season with Waterford United, helping the club to second place in the league, but the club missed out on promotion after losing their play-off match against Monaghan United. Liam moved to Australia at the end of the season where he played for Dandenong Thunder.
In early August 2013 Liam once again donned the colours of Cork City, turning out for his former club under caretaker manager Stuart Ashton in a friendly against WBA at Turner's Cross. He then signed for Munster Senior League side Avondale United for their 2013/14 season but in January 2014 Liam returned to Cork City when he signed for his former City team-mate John Caulfield.
Liam was in the side for Cork City's opening league fixture of 2014 against St Patrick's Athletic on 7 March and the first goal of his 'second coming' came in a 3-0 win over Athlone later that month. He went on to score twice in 28 league appearances (ten as sub) in what would prove to be a dramatic season for the Leesiders as they were pipped to the league title on the final day by Dundalk.
Liam stayed with the club for the 2015 season but his role was reduced as he made only eleven league appearances, scoring once in the 2-2 draw with Dundalk, as Cork finished runners-up to Dundalk once more. In November 2015, Liam left Cork City.
Liam joined Galway as First Team coach when John Caulfield was announced as manager.
