Billy was with UCD from 2008 when he was understudy to Matt Gregg and made just one league appearance, in a 4-1 defeat away to Derry City on 23 May. In 2009, and on into 2010, Billy vied with Ger Barron for the goalkeeper's jersey but in December 2010 he moved north of the border to Lisburn Distillery.
Billy Made his debut for Distillery in a 1-0 defeat to Portadown on 25 January 2011 and made 8 league appearances by the end of 2010/11. The following year Billy played every minute of Distillery's 33 league games.
