Willie’s Biography

Willie, a native of Ennis in County Clare, began his career with Coventry City in 1992. He remained with the Sky Blues until 1999 and made 63 league appearances in his time with the club.

In 1999 he moved to Cardiff City and made 209 league appearances in a seven year period, winning Player of the Year in 2001/02. In the summer of 2006 he was released by manager Dave Jones.

In August 2006 he signed for Danny Wilson at Hartlepool United and spent the next three seasons there, making a further 64 league appearances, before retiring due to injury in October 2009.

In May 2010 Willie came out of retirement to sign for Limerick FC. He made a short debut away to Athlone Town on the 8th of May, 2010, when he came on as a half time substitute, but had to retire just twelve minutes later with a back injury. He never played for Limerick again.

In January 2011 Willie signed for English non league side Guisborough Town.
