Steven’s Biography

Steven is a striker from Irvine in Scotland who joined Dundalk from Rangers during the 2010 July transfer window.

Lennon started off his career as a midfielder and was a regular for Rangers reserves before his switch to Oriel Park. Lenny made his debut for the Gers first team against Inverness in the Scottish Premier League on 27 December 2006, coming on as an 83rd-minute substitute for Nacho Novo in a game which the Blues lost to a late goal at The Caledonian Stadium.

Lennon became known as a prolific goalscorer, scoring numerous times for Rangers U19s during the 2006/07 season, including a hat-trick in a 3-3 draw with Dundee United. He then scored another hat-trick, in Rangers’ 5-0 defeat of rivals Celtic in the Scottish Youth Cup final on 26 April ’07. The following December, Lennon signed a fresh contract to keep him at Ibrox until at least 2010.

In August 2008, the 5ft8 forward moved on loan to Partick Thistle, a deal which lasted until the following January. He subsequently joined English League Two club Lincoln City on 1 February 2010, again on a loan deal, which kept him at Sincil Bank until the end of the season.

Two months later he signed a permanent deal with Dundalk and within days of receiving International Clearance he made his club debut against Levski Sofia at the Georgi Asparuhov Stadium in the Bulgarian capital in the UEFA Europa League second qualifying round first leg. His league debut came three days later when he started against Saint Patrick’s Athletic at Oriel Park on 18 July.

Steven's time at Oriel Park was disrupted by injury. He played ten times for Dundalk and failed to score. In February 2011 Steven moved to Newport County.

Steven was a part of the FH Hafnarfjordur squad that faced Dundalk in the Second Round of Qualifying for the 2016/17 Champions League in July 2016.
