Damian’s Biography

Damian is a defender who began his career with Cork City's youth side in 1999/00. In a season that saw City win the U18 league and Cup double, he was awarded the U18 Player of the Year in a side that included the likes of Damien Delaney, Joe Gamble and Alan Bennett, all of whom went on to have professional careers in England. He also earned an U18 cap for the Republic of Ireland that year under Brian Kerr and Noel O'Reilly.

Damian earned trials with Preston North End but returned to sign for Cork City's first team in 2000/01, making his debut away to UCD in December under manager Derek Mountfield, a former League and FA Cup winner with Everton.

He played for City's first team for two seasons, making approximately 40 appearances, before going to the US on a four year soccer scholarship to George Mason University in North Virginia. There he played in the top US division for University sides, winning Rookie of the Year in his debut season and going on to captain the team.

On graduating in 2007 Damian returned to Ireland and made contact with Mervue United in 2008 through his former team mate Mark Herrick, then assistant to manager Johnny Glynn. He signed for Mervue prior to the start of the 2009 season and made 25 appearances during the club's debut League of Ireland season.

He played in the opening 5 games of 2010 but then left the club for personal reasons, returning for the start of the 2011 season. He made just 5 league appearances that year and added 11 more in 2012.

Damian O'Rourke signed for Cobh Ramblers at the start of the 2014 season. He played three times for the club before leaving in July 2014.
