John’s Biography

John made his league debut for Bray Wanderers on 27 July 2007 against Longford Town at the Carlisle Grounds and marked the occasion by scoring Bray's goal in a3-1 defeat, a feat which made him Bray's youngest ever scorer in a league game at 17 years, seven months old.

That was John's only league appearance of the '07 season but he made 7 more in 2008. In 2009 John started to establish himself in Bray's first team and over the following three seasons he made 81 league appearances and scored seven goals.

In January 2012 John signed up for a sixth year with the Seagulls. He went on to play 27 league games for the club as Bray survived being relegated due to Monaghan United pulling out of the league. John scored three times during the season, against St Pats (3-3), UCD (3-1) and Shelbourne (2-3). He re-signed for the 2013 season, his seventh season at Bray.

John played 30 times during the 2013 season for Bray Wanderers, as they survived in the league after beating Longford Town in the play-offs. John scored four goals over the campaign. In November 2013, John signed for Athlone Town as they prepared for a return to the Premier Division in 2014, but injury prevented him from taking his place in the squad until the summer of 2014 when he made his club debut as a substitute against Derry City at Lisseywoolen on 6 July 2014. He went on to finish the season with two goals in nine appearances for Athlone as they were relegated from the Premier Division.
