Paddy ’s Biography

Kavanagh had a spell with Wayside Celtic before signing for UCD in July 2006. He made 10 league appearances for the club that year, scoring four league goals.

In January 2007 Paddy signed for Birmingham City on a short term contract but was released in the summer. He returned home to join Bray Wanderers in July 2007 and went on to make 49 league appearances over the next two and half years.

In July 2009 Paddy signed for Michael O'Neill at Shamrock Rovers and made 22 league appearances for the Rovers side that won the league title in 2010. The following season saw Paddy slip out of first team contention and, as Rovers claimed a second successive title, he made only 1 league start, adding 6 appearances from the bench.

In January 2012 Paddy signed for Alan Mathews at newly promoted Shelbourne. He made his debut for the Reds against Sligo Rovers on the opening night of the season and scored six times in 28 league appearances. Shortly after the season's end Paddy signed a deal to play with Derry City in 2013.

Paddy played 16 times in the league for Derry City as they finished fourth in 2013 season. His only goal of the season came in the Europa League tie against Trabzonspor, scoring in the 4-2 defeat to the Turkish team. In November 2013, Paddy joined Bohemians for the 2014 season.

Paddy went on to make 29 league appearances for the Dublin club, scoring twice, as Bohs finished seventh in the league, and made 28 league appearances during the 2015 Premier Division campaign, scoring three times in the process. He entered his third season at the club after re-signing for the 2016 campaign during which he added 30 league appearances to his career total, scoring just once, in a 3-3 draw with Wexford Youths.

He stayed with Bohemians until the end of July 2018 when he left Dalymount to join Shelbourne. This would be Paddy's last st op before retirement and he hung up his boots at the end of the 2018 season.
