Matej’s Biography
Matej started his career with Czech side Vysocina Jihlava and he also played for Banik Ostrava before leaving the Czech Republic to sign for Udinese in Italy in June 2010.
While in Italy Matej also had loan spells at Club Brugge, Watford and West Bromwich Albion. A second loan period at Watford led to a permanent deal in July 2015, But almost immediately he went out on loan again, this time to Reading where he played for 2015/16.
In August 2016 Matej signed for Derby County and he played there for two seasons before joining Premier League side, Burnley, in August 2018.
In August 2012 Matej made his senior international debut for the Czech Republic, in a World Cup qualifier against Denmark.
