Patrick started his career at Arsenal and he also played for Falkirk, Hibernian, Greenock Morton, St. Mirren, Bury, St. Johnstone before joining Shamrock Rovers in August 2014, the first signing under Pat Fenlon. He made his debut for the Hoops in a 1-1 draw away to Athlone Town on 15 August and went on to make 7 league appearances for Shamrock Rovers as they secured European football with a fourth place finish in the 2014 Premier Division.

In 2015, his first full season at Tallaght, Patrick made 29 league appearances, scoring once in a 4-1 win over Limerick, as Shamrock Rovers finished third in the Premier Division. He also played in all four of the club's Europa League matches as Rovers went out to Norwegian side Odds. The following year he added another 29 league appearances to his career tally and played in another two Europa League games, against Finnish side RoPS. At the end of the 2016 season Pat moved across the M50 to sign for St. Patrick's Athletic ahead of the 2017 season. That move only lasted till July as Pat then departed Pats by mutual consent.
