David’s Biography

David started his career off at Notts County before moving to Southampton in August 2004. He went on to spend five seasons there and, as well as loans to Notts County, Bournemouth, Port Vale, made seventy-five appearances and scored fifteen goals, most of which came in his last season there.

In June 2009, David moved to Nottingham Forest and spent four seasons at the club, scoring nine times in seventy-seven appearances for the club. For the 2012/13 season, David was loaned out to League One side Coventry City and scored sixteen times in twenty-two league games before he then joined Ipswich Town on loan for the rest of the season and finished the campaign with another four goals in fourteen league games for the Championship side

David joined Ipswich Town permanently for the 2014/15 season. David McGoldrick signed a two year contract extension with Sheffield United in June 2020, after first joining the club in 2018.

David has been capped by the Republic of Ireland squad and, ahead of the friendlies with the Netherlands and Belarus, has 2 caps to his name. He was not included in the Republic of Ireland's final squad for the 2016 European Championship. David retired from international football in November 2020 after making 14 appearances for the Boys in Green scoring his only goal against Switzerland in the Euro 2020 qualifying campaign in September 2019.
