Darren’s Biography

Tralee born Darren is a brother of winger Billy Dennehy and started his career in the youth system at Everton but, after three years on professional terms, Darren left the club in July 2008 without having made a senior appearance. He spent the following two seasons at Cardiff City, again failing to make a first team appearance, but he did gain valuable experience during loan spells at Hereford United and and Gillingham. In July 2010 Darren moved on again, signing for London club Barnet FC. Darren made his Barnet debut in a 2-1 defeat to Chesterfield on the opening day of the 2010/11 season but a serious injury in September kept him out for a year and he left the club in May 2012 having made 24 league appearances.

On 12 January 2013 Darren signed for Tommy Dunne at Cork City and made his debut for the club away to Shamrock Rovers on 29 March, going on to make 11 league appearances in a season that was disrupted by injury. In 2014 Darren scored his first goal for City, a winner against Derry at the Brandywell, and he went on to bag four goals in 29 league appearances as Cork finished runners up in the league to Dundalk.

Darren stayed with the Rebels for the 2015 season and went on to make 24 league appearances, scoring three goals in the process, as Cork finished runners-up to Dundalk once more. He was also a part of the team that played in the FAI Cup Final but lost to Dundalk after extratime.

In December 2015 Darren and his brother Billy joined St Patrick's Athletic. He made 24 league appearances in the 2016 Premier Division as Pats finished a disappointing seventh, and also played in all four of the club's Europa League matches.

In January 2018, Darren signed for Limerick FC, following his brother Billy for a third successive season.
