Richard’s Biography

Richie played underage football with Crumlin United before joined the Celtic youth system in 2007. He made his senior debut for Celtic in a 2-2 draw with Inverness in November 2010 and went on loan to Hibernians in January 2011, making 16 appearances for Hibs by the end of the 2010/11 season. He returned to Celtic that summer and played in the Dublin Super Cup but in August 2011 Richie was back at Hibs on a season long loan that saw him make another 14 league appearances under Pat Fenlon. At the end of the 2011/12 season he was released by Celtic and in December 2012 he signed for Stephen Kenny at Dundalk.

Richie made his League of Ireland debut against Shamrock Rovers on the opening night of the 2013 season and was hugely influential in Dundalk's second placed finish that year, scoring seven times in 31 league appearances. He also picked up the PFAI Young Player of the Year award.

Richie stayed with Dundalk for the 2014 season and was an integral part of the team that went on to win the league title at the end of the season. He played a part in all thirty-three league games and chipped in with eleven goals through-out the campaign. Richie stayed with Dundalk for the 2015 season.

In a spectacular season for both player and club, Richie netted twenty-five times in thirty-two league games as Dundalk once more won the Premier Division title. He also appeared in both Champions League ties, as the Lilywhites went out to BATE Borisov, and in the FAI Cup Final, where his goal in extratime beat Cork City 1-0 to see Dundalk do the double.

In November 2015, Brighton & Hove Albion confirmed that Richie had signed a two-and-a-half year deal with the club, which would commence in January 2016.

In May 2021, Richie signed a contract with Shamrock Rovers on a three and a half year deal.
