Roddy’s Biography

Roddy is the son of Roddy Senior and was part of his father's 2011 Monaghan United squad. He made his first senior start for the club away to Limerick FC in an EA Sports Cup quarter-final in June 2011 and made the bench as an unused substitute for six league games.

When Monaghan returned to the Premier Division in 2012 Roddy Jnr graduated to more regular senior duty, making his league debut at Belfield in a 3-2 defeat to UCD on 30 March. He also scored his first goal for the club, in a 2-1 win over Fanad United in the EA Sports Cup. Sadly, Roddy was one of the players left without a club when Monaghan withdrew from the league citing financial pressures on 18 June 2012.

In January 2013 Roddy returned to League football, joining his father at Athlone Town. He went on to play 25 league games out of twenty eight as Athlone won the First Division title and promotion to the Premier Division. At the end of that season Roddy jnr moved to Derry City again following his father who had taken over the manager's job at the Brandywell in November 2013. He made his Candystripes debut in a 1-1 draw with Shamrock Rovers on the opening weekend of the 2014 season and made 12 league appearances before being released at the end of May, some weeks after his father had also left the club.

In July 2014 Roddy returned to Athlone colours when he lined out for the club in a summer friendly against Dundee United. A week later Roddy wore a Drogheda United shirt when he played for them against MK Dons in a friendly at United Park. He signed for his former club Athlone Town, however, and appeared twice on the bench for Athlone before leaving the club in October 2014. England was the next stop for Roddy as he went on to play for Crystal Palace and Luton Town. He then returned to Ireland in August 2015 expecting to sign for Drogheda United. However, the transfer didn't go through in the end and he didn't join the club.

In January 2016, Roddy joined Roddy Collins Snr at Waterford United. However, it later transpired that he was ineligible to play for the club until July 1st of that year. Awe made his first league appearance for the Blues on 8 July 2016 and made 5 league appearances over the latter half of the season .
