Cork City have announced the signing of goalkeeper Kevin Burns from Waterford United.

The 21 year old was an ever-present for Waterford last season, having broken into the team in the 2010 season, and he told CorkCityFC.net that he was delighted to have signed for the club: “I have played at Turner’s Cross a number of times and there is always a good atmosphere there, so I am looking forward to playing there."

"I know some of the players, and have played with the likes of Graham Cummins and Kevin Murray as well. I enjoyed playing with Kevin, and we had a good partnership, so I am looking forward to playing with him again. The club has an excellent fan base, and you can see the passion and the enthusiasm the fans have for the club. I have been very impressed with the professionalism of everyone at the club, so I am delighted to have signed.”

Commenting on the signing, Cork City manager Tommy Dunne said: “Kevin is a good young keeper who we have seen in action in our games against Waterford over the last couple of years, and he has also been involved in the Ireland Under 21 squad. Kevin expressed an interest in joining the club and we liked what we saw of him, so we are pleased to have signed him, and I hope that he can push Mark McNulty for the number one jersey next year.”

Speaking at Bishopstown this afternoon, Dunne also confirmed that Craig Burns and Eoin McGreevy have both joined Munster Senior League side Midleton on a short term basis: “Craig and Eoin have signed for Midleton for a short spell in order to get game time and gain experience, as they did not play much with us last season.”

The City boss also confirmed that Vincent Escudé-Candau and Peter Krzanowksi have both left the club. Everyone at the club would like to thank Vincent and Peter, and wish them the best of luck for the future.
