Sligo Rovers have announced the signing of Dundee keeper John Gibson. Gibson, 21, follows recent signing Jim Laughlin from Dens Park and is will replace Richard Brush who is expected to go for surgery on his injured hand in the coming weeks.

This will see the Sligo first choice keeper miss up to three months of the season. Gibson returned to Dundee in May after a season-long loan spell with Peterhead. He has also spent spells with Elgin City and Forfar Athletic in the Scottish lower divisions. He is expected to be available for selection for this coming Saturday's Premier Division clash with Dundalk. Another new signing is expected to be announced by the north-west outfit in the coming days.

Rovers have also announced that Paul Whelan has left the club after spending 5 months with the club. Whelan, who plays right back signed from Monaghan United in the pre-season.

Conor O'Grady has also denied recent speculation linking him with a move away from the club. The influential midfielder was linked with moves to Athlone, Galway and Finn Harps in the last few weeks, as his first team appearances have been restricted due to the outstanding performances of John Russell and Richie Ryan in the centre of the Rovers midfield. But O'Grady has told manager Paul Cook he is fully committed to The Showgrounds cause.
