O’Neill reflects on fair result
Published: March 14, 2010
“I think, overall, 1-1 was a fair result,” said O'Neill afterwards.
The ex-St.Patrick’s Athletic forward did brilliantly to turn inside Sligo Rovers centre half Alan Keane and drive the ball past ‘keeper Richard Brush.
“I’m happy enough with it, it’s always nice to get off the mark. As a centre-forward you don’t want to be going too long without getting goals. I’m just disappointed we didn’t get the three points tonight.”
Despite playing some good football, Fingal lacked the teeth necessary to finish Paul Cook's side off. O’Neill went on to admit that he would take wins every week over good football.
"Playing well counts for nothing in this league unfortunately. I’d rather play brutal all season and finish on top of the table. We’ll take heart and confidence out of the performances and hopefully we’ll get our rewards.”
