Sporting Fingal -v- Sligo Rovers

Published: March 11, 2010
Sporting Fingal will play their first ever Premier Division home match in the Morton stadium tomorrow night when they face Sligo Rovers (kick- off 7.45pm

The last time the two teams met was in the 2009 FAI Ford Cup final when Sporting won out 2-1.

Both sides have injury concerns around key players ahead of the match, with Sporting possibly missing key players such as Eamon Zayed, and Padraig Amond among those doubtful for the Bit O’Red.

Rovers began their season last week with a home draw against Shamrock Rovers while The Ravens lost out to Bohemians on the opening day.

Liam Buckley, manager of Sporting Fingal, said that his players were still confident even after the Bohemians defeat; “The determination to recover from that set-back has been evident in training this week and I’m expecting another committed performance against Sligo Rovers.

We played Paul Cook’s side twice last year, losing our duel in the EA Sports Cup but overcoming them in the FAI Ford Cup final, so there will be little between the sides again this time.”
