Week 2

With the added Setanta Cup matches this weekend the League of Ireland fixtures are stretched out from Friday night until Tuesday which gives punters plenty of time to analyse last week's performances and pick a few winners!

Looking at Friday night's Premier fixtures first off, and Fingal v Sligo looks a tricky game to call. Both sides will feel they could have got more than they did from last weekend's games but with two evenly matched sides it may be best to leave this alone.

The other Premier match is one of those classic early season "relegation 6-pointers" With both sides having lost last weekend they'll be looking to get some points on the board. Galway United must plan without Stephen O'Donnell, sent-off at Pat's last week, and his absence could be the key.

Bray looked very lively against Dundalk and missed a host of chances and Bray's pace could prove too much for United's back-line, with better finishing an away win could well be on the cards and Bray to win Draw no Bet (your stake is returned if the game finishes a draw) looks a generous price with VC Bet at 3/1.

The one other major thing to note from the weekend was Drogheda's calamatous defending against UCD. As Alan Matthews rightly pointed out, on another day UCD could have scored three goals in the first half, it's hard to imagine them being as bad this week but it's also hard to imagine that everything has been sorted out, and Dundalk will be looking to score a few goals live on TV. Dundalk to win by more than a goal is 17/10 with Paddy Power and looks worth a play.

With the aforementioned Setanta Cup taking place over the weekend it's probably wiser to let Bohs and Pat's get another game under their belts before getting involved in Tuesday's games.

Division 1 always seems to be a minefield when it comes to betting, it seems some of the most inconsistent teams in the world play in the division. With lots of new squads and even new clubs involved this season it should be approached with caution but one price that does stand out is Finn Harps at 4/7 against Salthill Devon. Devon lost at home to Athlone last weekend who, at least on paper, look worse than Finn Harps. It's a long trip up to Donegal and I'd be surprised if they came back with anything.
