Bohemians manager Pat Fenlon has denied rumours that he is planning to quit. Several newspapers this morning reported that Fenlon was considering his position at the club, following the departure of chief executive Jim Roddy on Tuesday and because of a failure by the club's board to provide additional funds to bring in new players.

However, speaking on national radio tonight, Fenlon said the rumours are untrue and that he will be in charge of the Gypsies for the forthcoming 2009 season.

The news that Fenlon is sticking around is sure to be welcomed by the Gypsies faithful after Fenlon led the club to a league and cup double last season in his first season in charge.

Reports speculated that Pat Fenlon was about to walk out on Bohs. Fenlon is said to have met with board members following Roddy's departure and was informed that he currently has no scope to bring in new players to the club.

The club currently has just 12 players on its books for the new season. A number of last season's title winning squad did not have their contracts renewed, while others rejected new deals on less money. Fenlon has been unable to bring in new faces as the club looks to work out its playing budget for the coming year. Those players still under contract have been asked by the club to take substantial wage cuts to enable the club to add new players to the squad and at the same time comply with the FAI's 65% rule.

Fenlon has lined up a number of new faces to come in, including Stuart Byrne, Joseph Ndo and Paul Keegan, but his ability to bring them in depends greatly on whether the club can persuade current squad members to take a pay cut.
