Live Updates for Dundalk -v- Finn Harps

90' + 3'

Comfortable in the end for The Town but it must be acknowledged that Gary Rogers made two outstanding saves- one when  it remained goalless. Clinical strikes from Dan Kelly and a much better shape and tempo from Dundalk in comparison to Monday's tepid display saw the locals go home happy.

Thanks a million for joining us and we hope you'll visit again soon- Niall Newberry's excellent report will be online soon but from me, Tom O'Connor, it's oíche mhaith from Oriel Park.

90' + 3'

FULL TIME!

The game has ended between Dundalk and Finn Harps.

90' + 2'

Three minutes to be added here as Dundalk come closer to a fourth. Hoban has an effort blocked and McKee has to foul as Harps break down their right.

88'

Daniel Kelly is everywhere tonight- this time covering his left back channel as Harps break following a corner. He's been superb and never stopped all night.

82'

Another instinctive finish from the wide man as, this time a right wing move saw the ball break to the former St Patrick's CY man and he rattled the net from just inside the box. Superb finish once again!

82'

GOAL!

Daniel Kelly scores for Dundalk.

82'

2616 here tonight at Oriel Park. Not a bad crowd given it's the second game here in a week.

80'

Substitution

John Mountney replaces Michael Duffy for Dundalk.

80'

Substitution

John Mountney replaces Michael Duffy for Dundalk.

77'

Paul Hegarty's turn now to become animated on the Finn Harps sideline as they search a goal. They're split open on the counter attack as this game is becoming a lot more open. The reality is that Dundalk have controlled large parts of the game but, once again, have relied on big saves from Gary Rogers at 0-0.

74'

71'

Substitution

Joe McKee replaces Patrick McEleney for Dundalk.

70'

Yellow Card

Caolan McAleer is booked for Finn Harps.

68'

Death, taxes and Ollie Horgan bellowing on a touchline. Three guarantees in life. Dundalk starting to put on the pressure again but Harps have the potential to nick one.

61'

Yellow Card

Chris Shields is booked for Dundalk.

61'

Yellow Card

Chris Shields is booked for Dundalk.

60'

CHANCE!

The ball breaks to Hoban on the edge of the area and the striker turns sharply but Burke saves well.

58'

Boyd's first appearance since being injured in mid March. Attacking change from Harps as Boyd goes up top alongside Place.

56'

Substitution

Sean Boyd replaces Raffaele Cretaro for Finn Harps.

53'

Yellow Card

Raffaele Cretaro is booked for Finn Harps.

52'

Dan Kelly has now been directly involved in the last 3 goals at Oriel Park-winning the penalty against Bohs and neeting a brace tonight.

47'

Harps failed to clear ap eriod of Dundalk pressure from the start of the half. The ball broke to Dan Kelly on the edge of the box and he rifled home without mercy. Instinctive finish from the best player on the park tonight.

47'

GOAL!

Daniel Kelly scores for Dundalk.

46'

Second Half

The second half between Dundalk and Finn Harps has started.

45' + 10'

A scrappy half punctuated by two serious injuries. Better stuff from Dundalk tonight and a well worked goal saw them take the lead. However, it's taken two flying saves from Gary Rogers to preserve their clean sheet. A second will be needed in order to allow the natives breathe easier.

45' + 10'

Half Time

It is half-time between Dundalk and Finn Harps.

45' + 6'

Nine minutes to be added in total here given the two serious injuries suffered to Gartland and Gallagher.

SAVE!

Another great stop from Rogers as he flung himself to his right to flick a Place effort out of his bottom corner before clawing an effort from the resultant corner off the line. Place is winded and we'll have at least 10 minutes so.

45' + 2'

Great play down the left resulted in a pullback finding the onrushing Kelly who swept the ball past the exposed Burke- composed finish and a fitting candidate given his performance so far.

45' + 2'

GOAL!

Daniel Kelly scores for Dundalk.

45' + 1'

Yellow Card

Mark Coyle is booked for Finn Harps.

44'

More Dundalk pressure, this time it's Kelly showing well. McGrath stings the palms of Burke in the first shot on target for the Lilywhites.

40'

All Dundalk here as they try to assert their authority before half time. McEleney starting to link up well with Duffy and Hoban is showing well. Blank on the efforts on target column so far though.

35'

Great wing play from Dan Kelly as he faces up his direct opponent- and namesake O'Reilly- to win a corner. Hoare this time wins the header but it drifts wide. He's looking lively- the former Bohs wideman.

32'

PENALTY SHOUT!

Ganonon dances into the penalty area to collect a superb McGrath through ball, he's crowded out and the home support roar for a spot kick, Not given.

29'

The netminder is gone with his left arm slinged. I think the last time Burke played here was for Cliftonville in a preseason friendly in early 2016 which Dundalk won 4-0. Saying that, he was in goal for the latter and succesful end to Harps' 2018 season.

27'

Substitution

Peter Burke replaces Ciaran Gallagher for Finn Harps.

24'

OOFFF!!!

McEleney hangs a long ball which Gallagher punches clear under pressure from Hoban who collides with the keeper and, for the second time this half, we've a medic in on the field though this time it doesn't look quite as serious.

21'

SAVE!

Rogers flung himself to his right to keep out an O'Reilly header from a McNamee long throw. Simple but highly effective. Closest we've been so far.

With that Mikey Place just flashes a snapshot wide from 30 yards.

21'

Class is permanent! The oldest outfield player here tonight- Raf Cretaro just played a left footed pass to pick out Boyle from 40 yards.

On the other side Dan Kelly used his own dancing feet to skip inside O'Reilly but Gallagher advanced to gather.

17'

Hoban with a great burst of pace took off down the centre and was pushed in the back by Todd right on the edge of the box. McEleney thumps the wall with a measured effort.

17'

Yellow Card

Sam Todd is booked for Finn Harps.

15'

Duffy, Mc Eleney and McGrath link up well down the left to release Massey whose cross is deflected wide and Cleary heads over the resultant corner.

13'

Substitution

Daniel Cleary replaces Brian Gartland for Dundalk.

11'

Play still stopped here as the Lilywhite skipper remains sitting on the pitch. The last time the two sides met in FInn Park earlier in the season it was a 1-1 draw courtesy of goals from both of tonight's skippers- Cowan and Gartland. No repeat of that tonight as Cleary replaces Gartland.

7'

Aeriel collision between O'Reilly and Gartland leaves the Dundalk captain on the ground and he's being stretchered off here. He's sitting up but he's not going to return to the play. O'Reilly was booked for his part.

7'

Yellow Card

Daniel O'Reilly is booked for Finn Harps.

7'

MASSEY HITS THE NET (outside of!)

Curling effort which beat Gallagher and his wall. Unfortunately it nestled the wrong side of the post.

6'

OFFSIDE!

McGrath thumps the post after being put through by Kelly.

PLOT TWIST!

Kelly was fouled as he passed so it's a Dundalk free kick on the edge of the area.

3'

Slight alteration to the expected Harps setup with Place up front- his natural position from his Sligo Rovers days- with McAleer wide right, Boyle left  and Cretato central. That leaves McNamee and Coyle manning the middle.

1'

GAME ON!

The game between Dundalk and Finn Harps has kicked off.

0'

We've an expectant Oriel Park as the crowd await the arrival of the teams. Whilst the Lilywhites took all three points in controversial circumstances on Monday night a repeat performance will not be well received by the home support.

0'

I expect Dundalk to line up in their regular 4-2-3-1 with a back 4 of Gannon. Gartland, Hoare and Massey, Shields will anchor the midfield with McGrath and McEleney expected to dovetail alongside him. Kelly and Duffy will play wide with Hoban up top.

For Finn Harps it's Gallagher between the sticks with Daniel O'Reilly (left) and John Kavanagh (right) expected to occupy the full back positions. Keith Cowan and Sam Todd will be in the centre of the defence with Mark Coyle, Mikey Place and Tony McNamee in the middle. Raf Cretaro, Nathan Boyle and Caolan McAleer are an exciting attacking trio who have pace and experience. A 4-5-1 is probably how they will line up with Boyle or Cretaro in the middle.
