Live Updates for Dundalk -v- Sligo Rovers

93'

That was a funny one. Dundalk didn't convert their dominance. Niall Newberry will have his match report up on ExtraTime.ie soon, maybe he can make sense of it? It's been a pleasure folks, Ciarán Fisher signing off here.

93'

FULL TIME!

The game has ended between Dundalk and Sligo Rovers.

90'

Three minutes of additional time.

88'

A certain push in the box stops Daniel Kelly getting onto a cross. Roars for a penalty. Nothing given. Referee Robert Harvey won't be watching these highlights in a hurry I imagine.

87'

Substitution

Rónán Coughlan replaces Liam Kerrigan for Sligo Rovers.

86'

Dundalk have gone close either side of the substitutions. Firstly Gannon has a near miss and then the newly introduced Georgie Kelly heads over. Phew.

84'

Substitution

Niall Morahan replaces Daryl Fordyce for Sligo Rovers.

84'

Substitution

Georgie Kelly replaces Patrick McEleney for Dundalk.

82'

I'll have to rewatch this game and count how many of the 'handball' appeals from the Oriel faithful are legit. If they all are I'll be contacting The Guinness Book of records.

80'

Dante redeems himself a bit with a last ditch block on Murray. It's out for a corner: Gartland gets a head on it and it's punched away by McGinty.

74'

Yellow Card

Regan Donelon is booked for Sligo Rovers.

74'

Substitution

Daniel Kelly replaces John Mountney for Dundalk.

74'

Another Murray shot, another save from McGinty. Sligo riding their luck here.

73'

Great move from Dundalk. Started by a super interception by Murray , he feeds McEleney and almost converted the return but it was hit straight at McGinty.

72'

McGinty pounces on a low cross from Gannon. The home side will need to keep them away from him and find a white jersey in the box.

68'

Yellow Card

Patrick McEleney is booked for Dundalk. Silly stuff from the Derryman, he gets ivolved in the aftermath of a firm challenge on him from Kyle McFadden. The ref is letting some of the more physical stuff go and Patrick's frustration got the better of him on that occasion.

66'

Dante clambers all over Hoban as a ball is played through, Hoban still manages to get away but his shot is over the bar. Dante is very lucky to still be on the pitch.

64'

Yellow Card

Sean Gannon is booked for Dundalk.

61'

Yellow Card

Dante Leverock is booked for Sligo Rovers.

It's not quite an inferno but Dante is under pressure of late in Oriel Park. He's picks up a yellow for a poor tackle - shortly after he gets away with a handball to nick it away from Hoban. Living dangerously.

60'

Romeo Romeo wherefore art thou Romeo? A little late that's where. Sligo pump a ball up looking for the striker and Romeo Parks catches Hoare late, it's a free out.

58'

A good passage of Lilywhite passing is brought to an end as Gannon's cross is caught by McGinty in the nets. You get the feeling Dundalk will get the next goal (mind you it seemed that way in the first half). the crowd here seem to think so, they are loudly willing the champions on.

53'

Micheal Duffy gives the Sligo players a runaround and then tees up Mountney on the edge of the box, but his final shot is disappointing and limps wide of the net.

49'

GOAL!

Sean Murray scores for Dundalk. An absolute belter, rifled past McGinty. The netminder has had a great game so far but he had no chance there.

48'

Kyle McFadden manages a header at Gary Roger's goal that looked promising but it's beaten away.

46'

Second Half

The second half between Dundalk and Sligo Rovers has started.

We're back in action. As things stand, The Champions, Dundalk FC are the only home team not in the lead in the league tonight.

45'

On the whole, Dundalk did respond well to the ealry injury of Benson. That Sligo goal was someting of a suckerpunch. Liam Buckley will be by far the happier at half time but Vinny Perth might just have a quiet confidence his Lilywhites can turn this around yet.

45'

Half Time

It is half-time between Dundalk and Sligo Rovers.

45'

At the moment, Sligo are better than Arsenal. Going by the famous logic: 'if we beat you then...'. Dundalk beat BATE Borisov, who beat Arsenal. Who cares if that game was years ago? It was the last time they played.

45'

Dundalk pushing hard. But no final product. If the defender's union ever considers asking about a 'blocked shot' bonus, this Sligo back four could be in for a windfall.

43'

GOAL!

Jack Keaney scores for Sligo Rovers. He did fancy that free kick! He hits a low bullet past Rogers from distance.Maybe the Dundalk 'keeper wasn't expecting that? It was quite a way out. And now, against the run of play, it's advantage Sligo as we approach half time.

42'

Liam Kerrigan is brought down by Shields as he makes some ground in the Dundalk half. It's quite a distance out but Jack Keaney is standing over it like he fancies it.

40'

Yellow Card

Kyle McFadden is booked for Sligo Rovers.

A robust, somewhat reckless, tackle from the visiting defender.

39'

Super save! McGinty pushes away a powerful header from Hoban. Sean Murray fires a pacey ball into the area and Hoban connects. That should have been a goal.

33'

Lewis Banks makes an important intervention to stop Hoban getting through. He and the Hobanator clash (Hoban sends him flying onto the turf) and the referee gives a free out. Some small claims Banks used his hand there.

30'

Sean Gannon, for Dundalk, gets down the right, crosses a looping one in. It has too much height on it for Hoban to do much other than head it down to MIcheal Duffy who doesn't catch it just right. There might be one on the way though folks.

29'

Yellow Card

Kris Twardek is booked for Sligo Rovers.

26'

Dundalk have their swagger back. They are back in the ascendancy here. McEleney probes out left, Murray feigns interest but lets it run past him to Massey who sends in a cross that's just headed at the ground by the incoming Sean Murray. A let off for the Bit' O Red.

22'

Sligo get their first shot away via a deflection. Then a bit of McEleney trickery gets him away and McGinty watches nervously as a ball curls up and round him, but over and wide - just.

18'

There's been a definite lull in play since the restart from injury and penalty miss - as I type that, Patrick McEleney threads a ball through to Hoban who's shot is snuffed out of bounds by McGinty.

12'

Dundalk came out with a real intensity, Vinny Perth and John Gill will be hoping that lenghty break doesn't take the wind out of their sails.

11'

MISSED PENO!

Patrick Hoban misses for Dundalk from the penalty spot.

And the penalty is saved. Oh dear.

11'

Substitution

Sean Murray replaces Robbie Benson for Dundalk.

8'

Patrick Hoban is standing over the ball waiting to take the penalty for Dundalk. A stretcher is being brought onto the pitch for Robbie Benson who is still down. Bittersweet this.

6'

PENALTY!!! For Dundalk. Robbie Benson catches Dante Leverock in possession and nips away. He's brought down by the 'keeper it seems.

5'

Dundalk's third corner in as many minutes is met by the head of the incoming Brian Gartland, but he's put off just about enough and it's wide.

3'

Dundalk's free-kick winds up out for a corner, which yields anotehr corner until Sligo finally get some respite.

2'

Nervy moment for the visitors there. John Mahon is skitterish in possession and yields it to John Mountney almost in shooting distance. He skips in to get a better angle and is fouled. Free kick.

1'
