CABINTEELY

Shelbourne travel to Stradbrook to face Cabinteely this evening hoping to do enough to secure the three points that would ensure a play-off place (kick-off 7.45pm).

Cabinteely will host their final league game of the season this evening and will be looking to finish out the season on a high.

A victory this evening will see them finish seventh in the table with one game remaining away to Finn Harps next Friday night.

Cabinteely have made Stradbrook a tough place to go this season with UCD, Drogheda and Shelbourne all leaving empty handed in the earlier stages of the season.

A number of successful Cabinteely underage teams will be in attendance this evening as well as some of the players from their ladies team as well.

Kevin Knight will miss tonight’s clash due to suspension.

SHELBOURNE

With last weekend set aside for FAI Cup fixtures, Owen Heary has had plenty of time to work on the mistakes that resulted in a disappointing slip at home to Athlone Town two weeks ago. They did take a point from the game but with so few fixtures left and his side right in the mix for a play-off place it is so important to take maximum points from every single game now.

Shels will look to stretch their unbeaten away run to nine games and haven’t lost on the road in the league since the last time they took on Cabinteely in June, a game which they lost 2-0.

It is a very important night for the top teams in the First Division this evening with lots of different permutations in place for the teams hovering around the top.

A win for Shelbourne this evening will be enough to secure a play-off place provided either Longford Town or Drogheda fail to win their game against each other.

Midfielder Dave Mulcahy will miss out for Owen Heary’s side with an injury but apart from that the manager will have a full squad to pick from.

MATCH STATS

These two sides have faced each other twice so far this season with Cabinteely winning 2-0 in Stradbrook before a 0-0 draw was played out at Tolka Park

Shelbourne striker Dave O’Sullivan continues to lead the way at the top of the goal scoring charts with 15 so far for the season, one ahead of Longford winger Dylan McGlade

A win for Shelbourne this evening should see them safe in securing a promotion place with a healthy goal difference at the moment as well.
